Spring in Surbtion
01 Apr 2019

March has come to an end and spring is here! Unfortunatley I spent the last 10 days in bed with the worst cold of my life. It was not fun, in fact it was horrendous. I have never been sick for this long before, I have never been home from work a whole week before and I have never ever eaten this many pills and cold medicine in my entire life. Worst of all is the cough that refuses to fade and wakes me up several times each night.

Oh well, it’s April and it is finally getting warmer! Can’t believe 1/4 of 2019 has already gone, time flies. This year so far has been rather bumpy and expecting it to get bumpier still, but that’s life eh? To not get stuck in a downward spiral I will try to focus on enjoying the present, make the most of each day and not worry so much about what may or may not come.

The other day I went outside for the first time in ower a week. The sun was shining and it was over 18 degrees. It was nice to get some fresh air after spending so much time inside our flat. For the first time in a long time I brought my camera and took some photos of the green, pink and white that is starting to sprout around us at this time of year.

This is Surbiton statiion, this is where I take my train each day to go to work. The building is quite unique with its art deco facade. It was built 1937 but Surbiton station has been around since 1838, although it was called Kingston station back then. My usual train ride from Surbiton to Waterloo station (central London) is 19.4km and takes 17 minutes, quite speedy and efficient, when the train is on time.

I walked to Kingston to run some errands. The town was already full with people enjoying the sunshine, especially along the waterfront. I don't know how many times I walked this route, it's a perfect walk from our house, it takes about 40 minutes and most of it is alongside the river Thames. I am really pleased we decided to move to Surbiton two years ago, it is a great place to live!
