Kew Gardens

20 Apr 2019

Happy Easter! The weather in London is lovely right now, 22-24 degrees. To make the most of the first day of the long weekend, my friend Aurelia and I went to Kew Gardens in Richmond yesterday.

I have been to this huge park once before, in September 2017. I would love to go more often but the tickets are quite expensive, around £16.00 At least with my residence discount (I live in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, a neighbor to the Borough of Richmond upon Thames) I only paid £13.50.

No coat! It was really warm, almost too warm with a black shirt. I was finally able to premiere my new skirt. The pink rhododendron behind me was enormous.

The main reason for our visit, Bluebells! Going to see the Bluebells is a thing in the UK and you can find them in many parks and forests in spring time. Previously Shin and I have been to see the Bluebells in Wansted Park in north east London. If you don’t want to pay for your visit, that park is free and has lot of Bluebells!

Bluebell selfie! We stayed in this area for quite some time and ate some of the snacks we brought with us.

The park is very big and has a Japanese garden too. The area only had a few cherry blossom trees but they were perfectly in bloom. But even more impressive was the stone garden, temporarily decorated with these colorful glass spheres. My first thought was Easter eggs! In the background you can see the five storey pagoda.

Inside the conservatory. It was so cool and nice in there (except the rainforest zone).

The Hive is an art installation that is supposed to show you how bees live and communicate with each other.

First ice cream of the year! Mine is banana and mint chocolate flavor, Aurelia had mint chocolate and bubblegum!

Our final stop was the gigantic Palm House. We didn’t climb the stairs to the top this time but I have done it before. It’s super warm and humid at the top but the bottom part is quite cool. As you can see the plants are enormous!

If you are planning a visit to Kew Gardens, make sure you buy your tickets online. It is cheaper and the queue is faster too!
